Welcome!

         Takashi Yagi, Ph.D., Laser Physicist

                            Professor of Physics

          “Hopping around the world and science”

Welcome to the website of Dr. Takashi Yagi. This site is open for communication with the alumni of the institutions where Dr. Yagi and his colleagues enrolled in the past and participated in research activities. Personnel who wish to participate in the communication are also welcome.

Dr. Yagi started his career in space physics of interplanetary scale phenomena. Since then, the target of research has reduced in size, down to micron and nanometer scales rather than of the geophysical scale. This includes the physics and engineering in various categories of physical sciences, e.g., optical aeronomy and aurora, ultrafast plasma spectroscopy and gas breakdown, lasers, laser–matter interaction with femtosecond lasers, and terahertz electromagnetic-wave radiation with surface plasmonics, which is a recent public health concern. “Light” is the keyword.

Institutions where Dr. Yagi enrolled;

Univ. Niigata, Japan for BSc (1974), and MSc (1977)

La Trobe Univ. Australia for Ph.D. (1983), Resident of Glenn College (1979–1983)

Job experience:

Atmospheric Science Dept. State Univ. New York at Albany as Post Doctorate researcher (1983)

Geophysical Inst. Univ. Alaska, Fairbanks as Post Doctorate researcher (1984)

IRI Laser Laboratory, Japan, as Research Fellow and Project Manager (1987)

Physics Department, Tokai Univ., Japan, (1997-2017), Professor of Physics
